1849 4c "Vaud" Issue - Type A

1. there is a spot in the left side of the "O" of "POSTE"

2. the leg of the first "L" in "LOCAL" is broken away from the upright
 


1849 4c "Vaud" Issue - Type B

1. the "P" of "POSTE" is separated from the upright by a diagonal white line

2. there are two breaks in the top of the "P" of "POSTE"


1850 5c "Vaud" Issue

(characteristics as the 4c except for the value tablet)

1. there is a spot in the left side of the "O" of "POSTE"

2. the leg of the first "L" in "LOCAL" is broken away from the upright


1850 5c "Neuchatel" Issue - Type A

1. the cancel is always in same position on the stamp

2. the dot of the "i" of "Centimes" is split


1850 5c "Neuchatel" Issue - Type B

1. there is a break in the inner frameline at right on the level of the upper label

2. there is a nick in the top right corner of the "n" of "Centimes"


1850 2˝rp "Winterthur" Issue - Type A

1. the "R" in top left corner has a break of top line

2. the inner frameline at left has small breaks near the bottom corner

3. the horizontal marginal ornament above top frameline shows only lower half


1850 2˝rp "Winterthur" Issue - Type B

1. the "R" in top left corner has a break at lower left side

2. the outer frameline at top is complete

3. the horizontal marginal ornament above top frameline is complete
