1850 Orts Post 2½r - Types A and B

Type A - (left stamp in pair at left)
1. there is a small extension of right frameline above the top line
2. the "2" of the fraction has a broken top


Type B -
(right stamp in pair at left)
1. at the center of the numeral "2" there is protrusion to the right
2. there is a white dot at top left of the "S" in "POST"


1850 Orts Post 2½r - Type C

1. this type is only known with one of two static grill cancels

2. the top left serif of the "T" in "POST" is broken


1850 Poste Locale 2½r - Types A and B

Type A - (exists with or without framed cross)
1. there is a small "horn" on the top of the "C" of "LOCALE"
2. there is a dot in the head of the "S" of "POSTE"

Type B -
(exists with or without framed cross)
1. the head of the loop of the "p" in "Rp" does not join the upright
2. there is a white nick in the red background at thin frame to left of the bottom line of the cross


1850 Poste Locale 2½r - Type C

1. the head of the "O" of "POSTE" is broken

2. there is a black dot below the frameline beneath the "T" of "POSTE"
 


1850 Poste Locale 2½r - Type D

1. all copies have the "P.P." static cancel in same position

2. the "p" of "Rp" has a white crack in the lower part of loop


1850 Poste Locale 2½r - Type E

1. there is a black spot below the "PO" of "POSTE"

2. there is a void in the red background at the top of the cross that appears as a white flame
 


1850 Poste Locale 2½r - Type F

1. the bottom of the "O" of "POSTE" has a large defect

2. there is a white spot in the loop of the "2" of the fraction


1850 Poste Locale 2½r - Type G

1. there is a "nailhead" flaw in the middle of the "S" of "POSTE"

2. there is a black spot between vertical framelines at right near the top

(also exists with unframed cross)


1850 Rayon 1 Issue 5r - Type A

Type A - (exists only with Type A red background)

1. there is a break in the thick outer frameline above the left side of "O" of "RAYON"

2. there is a fault at the bottom right of the numeral "5"

Red Background Type A -
the red background of the cross has a major wedge-shaped void at bottom point


1850 Rayon 1 Issue 5r - Type B (exists with both red background types)

1. the numeral "5" has a break through the top left
2. the "O" of "RAYON" has a break at foot

Red Background Type B -
1. there are white nicks in the background, one above the left horizontal and the level of the top of the vertical
2. there is a mirror image white nick on the right side

1850 Rayon II Issue 10r - Type A

1. there is a white spot in the "A" of "RAYON"

2. there are nicks in the upper side of the thick outer frameline at foot
 


1850 Rayon II Issue 10r - Type B

1. there is a black dot outside the right top serif of "N" of "RAYON"

2. there is a dot in front of the "R" of "Rp"


1850 Rayon II Issue 10r - Types C-D-E

Type C - (exists without the frame)
1. the left leg of the "A" of "RAYON" is irregular with oversized serif
2. the "p" of "Rp" has a break at lower joint to descender

Type D - (exists without the frame)
1. the upper part of "N" of "RAYON" is filled in with color
2. the right side thick frameline does not quit join the top line

Type E - (exists without the frame)
1. there is a break on the top left of the "A" of "RAYON"
2. there is a break at the lower left side of the "0" of "10"


1851 Issue 5r - Type A

1. there is a large break in the left outer frameline 1mm from top

2. there is a large nick in the mouthpiece of the horn
 


1851 Issue 5r - Type B

1. the horizontal stroke of the "A" in "RAYON" does not join the right leg

2. there is a large dot to the left of the numeral "5"

(no frame to cross variety here)


1852 Issue 15r - Type A

1. all known examples bear the static cancel as shown

2. there is a white spot in the base of the "Y" of "RAYON"
 


1852 Issue 15r - Type B

1. the right arm of the "Y" in "RAYON" is broken

2. the top serifs of the "N" of "RAYON" are joined


1852 Issue 15c - Type A

1. all copies bear the static cancel as shown

2. the right thick frameline extends slightly too far at top


1852 Issue 15c - Type B

1. the top serif of the "A" of "RAYON" extends too far to the right

2. there are stray spots of color below the top of the "C" of "Cts"
