1909 Issue 1p 30pa surcharge (for use on 4d)

Carl Walske first reported overprint proof shown below in Sperati II, page 5, based on his archival purchase of the item from Sperati's daughter, Yvonne Pochard de Sperati. No reproductions have been seen. In Sperati I, plate 2, there is an illustration of a forged Smyrna registered postmark of 1910 but there is no suggestion as to its possible use.

the horizontal lines of shading in front of the forehead and the crown are so thickened that they are nearly joined together

2. the ends of the horizontal lines are irregular
